Welcome and thank you for visiting the Jim Herrick Swim School website! The Jim Herrick Swim School was established in 1965 under the same principles we employ today. Our goal is to teach children in our community water safety and minimize the number of drownings that occur in our community. While accomplishing this goal, we strive to provide a fun and memorable experience for each and every student.
Through our lessons, children become capable swimmers while developing a love for the water as well as a great sense of accomplishment and confidence. The Herrick Method of swim instruction is based on providing a positive, effective and safe learning experience for all students. We establish a deep level of trust with our students from the very first lesson. Our method of instruction is highly progressive and can be easily tailored by our professional instructors to accommodate children of all learning styles. The Herrick Method has been fine-tuned and perfected since it was first established in 1965 and has been used to teach thousands of children water safety.
*Fatal drowning remains the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages 1 to 14 years. Swim lessons are the single most important precaution a parent can take in mitigating the chance of drowning. Regardless of experience in the water, no child is “drown-proof” and children should always be supervised while in the water.
